Despite momentum over the past few weeks towards 1099 repeal, partisan politics has prevented a definite path for repeal. The majority party in both chambers have their own repeal legislative vehicles, and neither has the support of the other chamber’s minority party.
A House committee hearing yesterday showed bipartisan support for repealing the 1099 legislation.
The Senate overwhelmingly passed an amendment that would repeal the new 1099 requirement. However, even in the bipartisan vote, Democrats and Republicans argued for credit, showing how partisanship could delay the requirement’s repeal.
